  1. It’s a little strange. I’m pretending to be a real person who is searching for a fictitious movie character who is a real person in a digital storytelling course.

    • Now, to add another layer. I need someone to play me, pretending to be the real person who is searching for a fictitious movie character who is a real person in a digital storytelling course.

  2. David, Thanks for this person insight into the Dr. It’s amazing that you’ve discovered this course and gotten involved in the search!

What are you filming right now?

    • Hiya Martha, it’s Rowan here. David Cromenbird told me, to tell you that he’s filming a new multi-million dollar movie about a man’s discovery of his online/offline identity and the growing dislocation of his virtual/real self. It’s a romantic comedy.

      • That would be about the fictional Jim Groom no doubt.

Mr. Rowan, you seem like one who has all the ducks in a row. Clearly there is concern for my whereabouts and my well being, and perhaps that here, in your beautiful blog with this inspiring post, I shall try to quell the fears that have been so rampant these past two days.

Does it not seem possible that Jim Groom, and man of flesh and blood, who has these richly characterized alter egos like the BAVA, Reverend, RedBaiters, could possibly have created yet another in the from of Dr. Oblivion? Certainly, a man with so many personalities might find it within him to create yet one more. Unfortunately for me, and him, he elected to create a fictional version of someone who already exists. And that is the crux of all of this isn’t it? Much like your video here when a man plays another living man, things get weird.

You seem to have a real understanding of this challenge and you expressed it clearly when you noted, “I need someone to play me, pretending to be the real person who is searching for a fictitious movie character who is a real person.” I think that explains Jim and his current troubles.

Mr. Rowan, I encourage you to ask Mr Groom to pull the pieces of himself back together in one coherent form. I can appreciate the nature of games in learning and role playing in online environments, but this is not a game. It is my life. I believe Ms. Burtis is a comrade of Mr. Grooms. Perhaps you can employ her to push Mr. Groom back into a healthier and more realistic person on the internet.

I have asked Mr. Groom for some time on SKYPE when we might be able to straiten some of his issues, and perhaps he can begin to see a reality closer to the one we see. It will be a sort of “intervention.” He has yet to accept my request. I fear he is in denial and that is a large part of recovery as we all know.

Mr. Rowan, I appreciate you efforts and concern.

        Yours,
        The only real Dr. Oblivion
